Art Deco Gold Mother-of-Pearl Agate Clock Engraved for Maurice Chevalier
Art Deco Gold Mother-of-Pearl Agate Clock Engraved for Maurice Chevalier
If you are a fan of the famous French singer, actor, and entertainer Maurice Chevalier, who died in 1972, then this handsome hexagon shaped agate clock is a must have.
The clock's hardstone frame is engraved and signed as a gift for Maurice Chevalier. A script note in French encircles the handsome mother-of-pearl dial, which is signed A. Schwob, saying "avec mon meilleur souvenir, et ma sympathique admiration" which translates to "with my best memories, and my friendly admiration". This very personal momento of the dapper film star, known as the 'Playboy of Paris' with his trademark boater hat and tuxedo attire, is then signed at the bottom by a mysteriously unidentifiable admirer.
The beautifully shaped 18K yellow gold dial hands and Roman numerals are outlined by a gold bezel that is graphically patterned in electric blue and white enamel. The movement is marked 15 jewels/three adjustments and signed E. Bako/France, and the elegantly designed back easel is silver with French hallmarks. Truly a "never to be found again" treasure that is the complete package for any serious collector.
