Cigar bands, a loop of paper or foil wrapped around the body of a cigar, was used to advertise a brand or variety of tobacco. Gustave Bock, a European immigrant to Cuba, is credited with it's creation in 1830 and since then the use of colorfully and creatively designed bands have accelerated in popularity making them an American collectible.
